About Dr. Timothy Canty
Dr. Canty specializes in treating patients with back pain, neck pain and other severe pain disorders. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists in the area of Pain Management.
Dr. Canty uses the most advanced techniques available to relieve spinal pain such as that caused by arthritis, degenerative discs, and spinal stenosis. He also treats patients with severe chronic pain due to nerve damage, traumatic injuries, and reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD). His practice reflects his strong expertise in the treatment of resistant pain where previous therapies have been unsuccessful. His recent efforts have focused on developing the optimal application of the exciting new field of regenerative medicine, PRP and stem cell treatments. He continues to innovate pioneering the development of Virtual Reality augmented Ketamine therapy (KVR) for treating pain, depression and PTSD.
He completed his Interventional Pain Management fellowship training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to that, he completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
At Harvard Medical School, Dr. Canty was an instructor in Anesthesiology. He was also an attending physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was recently honored with the Inaugural 2009 Citizenship Award for his contributions to the hospital. He has a staff appointment at Mount Sinai Hospital and an academic appointment at NYU. He is co-director of the Manhattan Pain Medicine Fellowship training program.

I booked an appt via telehealth with the doctor. I was asked to fill out forms, send in my xrays and scans and mri results. I sent all the info needed from my orthopedist. I expect a pain management doctor to need all of the above. What I did not expect was to be called by a physicians assistant. Only to be asked the same questions I answered via email. I set aside time to take this call, arranged my schedule...only to be told " oh let me ask the doctor if he could even help you with your problem" and when the person got back to the phone they told me " you would have to see the doctor in person". Why wasn't that brought up prior? I was asked why I was coming in and provided all info needed - they office should have told me at THAT point the doctor could only see me in person. Point Blank. It was a waste of time to get this call- I could have been looking for a diff telehealth provider had I know this would go this way.....not happy at all.

The incorrect form was sent to me to complete requesting "date of accident" when I was not involved in an accident and I could not indicate that that information was N/A! Went there after scanning copies of my insurance cards a week before my appt. Dr didn't want to see me unless I provided a charge card so I could be charged any amount, rather than billed after the insurance has paid their portion, and the supplementary insurance has paid theirs. I never saw or was able to even determine whether or not PRP could be of benefit. I spent 2 hours waiting in the office because that form could not finish processing my insurance information. I had also made an appt with a supporting doctor which I had to cancel as well because my back pain (L5 out of alignment) could not be assessed.
