Dr. Tim Dean, PsyD

Dr. Tim Dean, PsyD

Psychologist
IL
My areas of expertise include working with adults experiencing difficulties related to mood, anxiety, and trauma, whether recent or past. I also enjoy supporting adults with ADHD and other neurodivergencies to deepen their understanding of how their brain works and to develop practical strategies that ease the challenges of living in a neurotypical world. My therapy style is warm, casual, and humorous. I take a client-centered approach, tailoring therapy to each individual's unique needs while building a trusting relationship over time. I incorporate CBT, ACT, DBT, humanistic, and existential theories and interventions in my work. I am LGBTQIA+ competent, trans/gender affirming, and sex- and body-positive. I welcome individuals with non-traditional or non-monogamous relationship styles or family systems, as well as artists, musicians, performers, those who do not conform to the typical 9-5 lifestyle, and people navigating difficult family dynamics or complicated romantic relationships. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. Finding a therapist can be daunting, so if talking briefly would help you feel comfortable moving forward, please reach out! I'm happy to make accommodations and be flexible with scheduling. Taking steps toward meaningful change can be intimidating, but you deserve to be content in life. I'd be honored to be part of that process. Resilience lies within all of us.

I make time to work with clients to verify what their expected costs are before we get started. I believe it's important to have as much clarity of costs and expectations from the beginning. I know insurance coverage can often feel confusing and overwhelming. You're not alone in that. I can help. If you are using your health insurance, it's good to be aware that the cost to you for therapy is related to your specific insurance plan. Therapists do not determine how much your co-pay or co-insurance is, or if your insurance requires you to hit a deductible before insurance starts to contribute to the costs of therapy. I'm dedicated to helping my clients make sense of their costs and how their insurance seems to work for therapy. I am happy to work together with you to make therapy accessible and affordable.
