Getting to know Dr. Tobias Halene

I am the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of NeuroSynchrony Health, which is a psychiatry clinic that uses Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) as the primary tool for treating patients. I am licensed in both New York and Connecticut, and am an expert in TMS and it's protocols. My background is diverse, and includes outpatient care in private practice, the Veterans Administration (VA), community interventions, emergency psychiatry with NY Presbyterian Hospital, and academic research. Born and raised in Germany, I studied medicine in both Germany and Italy before moving to the United States to pursue a PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. I later completed my residency and research fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx. These experiences shaped my expertise in delivering comprehensive and individualized psychiatric care. At NeuroSynchrony Health, I am dedicated to restoring, maintaining, and enhancing the mental and brain health of my patients using individualized, personal care. I combine effective psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological interventions with a personalized approach to meet the unique needs of each patient. My commitment to advancing mental health care is at the core of my work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

NeuroSynchrony Health was created to solve a problem within psychiatry -- that care was no longer focused on the core individual, but on other external factors. We strive to focus back on you, by offering advanced, personalized treatments for brain health and mental wellness. We are committed to understanding the unique challenges that you face, and create a care plan that is both highly personalized through an extensive evaluation with Dr. Halene, but is also rooted in data, driven by our proprietary EEG analysis and cognitive assessments. Our clinic specializes in a full range of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) protocols including Theta-Burst Stimulation (iTBS) accelerated TMS (1, 2 or 5 day treatments), and EEG-Guided protocols. We offer Cognitive Remediation treatment and often into the overall care plan. Finally, our model is rooted in a holistic psychiatric care model, which may include medication management in addition to our specialization. This allows us to help you pinpoint the exact solution to your most difficult challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

What differentiates our team from other providers is that we spend an extensive amount of time getting to know you and your story through our initial evaluation and subsequent follow-up visits. During this time we may also perform an EEG assessment (scan) and/or cognitive testing. Collectively, all of this information allows us to create a treatment plan that is tailored specifically to you and allows us to take the guesswork out of what may work best to help you feel better. Subsequent sessions may include a full course of TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatment, or Cognitive Remediation, depending what challenges are in need of attention. Medication management and psychotherapy may also be recommended and/or offered.
