Getting to know Dr. Tolulope Kolawole

I am a psychiatrist nurse practitioner with 18 years of experience as both a nurse and NP. I am dedicated to achieving exemplary patient outcomes by following evidence-based practices and ensuring all necessary treatments are provided. I place a strong emphasis on listening carefully to patient concerns and answering questions in clear, understandable terms. I am committed to collaborating with all members of the clinical team, valuing their suggestions and input to improve results and maximize patient satisfaction. I specialize in diverse settings, including crisis centers, outpatient, and partial psychiatric programs. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and substance abuse issues. I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Chatham University and a Master's in Nursing Practice from Fairleigh Dickinson University, which have equipped me with advanced skills to provide comprehensive psychiatric care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to integrate evidence-based practices and holistic approaches to treatment. I do this by incorporating psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and alternative treatment strategies for her patients’ mental health care plans according to their individual needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Firstly, I will begin by conducting a thorough assessment to gather information about the patient's mental health history, current symptoms, and any potential underlying causes. Next, based on the assessment, I will work collaboratively with the patient to develop an individualized treatment plan. This may involve a combination of therapy, medication management, and other supportive interventions tailored to the patient's specific needs. Throughout the treatment process, I will regularly meet with the patient for therapy sessions or medication check-ins, monitoring their progress and making any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan. I will also provide guidance, support, and education to help the patient better understand their condition and develop coping strategies. Additionally, I may work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, or occupational therapists, to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to the patient's care. Overall, the process involves a compassionate and collaborative relationship between I and the individual aiming to improve their mental well-being and enhance their overall quality of life.
