Getting to know Dr. Tonee Sumlin
I began my journey in mental health in 2021 during my residency in Detroit, MI, gaining experience primarily in urban inpatient and outpatient settings. I also have a strong comfort level in working with the Veteran population.
I believe psychiatry is a holistic field that can significantly impact your capacity for resilience and adaptation to life's challenges. I am dedicated to empowering individuals on their path to self-realization and healing, addressing their needs physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My areas of focus include Women's Mental Health, PTSD, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders.
My approach integrates trauma-informed care, supportive therapy, cognitive therapy, interpersonal therapy, and pharmacotherapy. Before pursuing psychiatry, I was a teacher and mentor, which instilled in me a passion for guiding and supporting others. I'm here to provide comprehensive and compassionate care as you navigate your mental health journey.
