Getting to know Travis Brown

I’m Travis Brown, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a doctorate-prepared, board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I offer a therapeutic approach that emphasizes a strong relationship: a space where you feel heard, respected, and involved in every decision about your treatment. I provide thoughtful, evidence-based care for adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma-related concerns, ADHD, substance use, and other complex mental health challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My background includes outpatient psychiatry, medication-assisted treatment, and interventional psychiatric care, with clinical interests in treatment-resistant depression, TMS, Spravato, and psychopharmacology. I also bring a foundation in high-acuity Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department (ER) nursing, which informs my calm, careful approach to evaluating both mental-health symptoms and medical factors that may affect well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our work together, I combine comprehensive evaluation and medication management with supportive, trauma-informed care. I value your autonomy and aim to make treatment understandable and collaborative—whether we are exploring medication options, strengthening coping skills, addressing substance use, or developing a plan for more persistent symptoms. My goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you feel more grounded, capable, and connected to the life you want to live.

Very understanding, listened carefully to my feelings and made me feel comfortable. Was patient with me and made sure I was fully understood. I had a hard time with a past trauma and he had walked me through it all without making me feel belittled and invalidated. I’m so grateful for Travis, very sweet and friendly.
I felt heard and respected which unfortunately is rare in healthcare. Not only was he clearly an expert, he showed an immense amount of emotional intelligence.
Travis makes you feel comfortable and seen. He doesn’t dominate the conversation and opts to listen before providing his expertise.
