Dr. Trusharth Patel completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in 2002, graduating with summa cum laude honors. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2006. Dr. Patel then completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Washington University in 2010, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Pain at the same institution, graduating in 2011. In September 2012, Dr. Patel joined the Department of Anesthesiology’s Center for Pain at Emory University, where he treats complex pain cases with innovative therapies. He served as the Director of Interventional Pain from 2014 to 2021, helping to establish standards of care for various pain conditions and treatments, as well as introducing innovative therapies to Emory University. Additionally, he served as the Director of Clinical Operations from 2019 to 2021. His clinical interests include advanced interventional pain therapies such as spinal cord stimulation, vertebral augmentation for compression fractures, and novel applications of radiofrequency ablation. Dr. Patel has been active in service at the local level within Emory School of Medicine and nationally, serving on various committees that promote the specialty of Interventional Pain for organizations such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. He has also taken an active leadership role in research focusing on spinal degenerative conditions. Dr. Patel has authored numerous publications, including original research, review articles, book chapters, and pain medicine books. He has received numerous awards recognizing his excellence as a clinician, in service, and in teaching.
