Getting to know Tyler Nieves

Tyler Nieves, APRN, PMHNP-BC, ADHD-CCSP (he/him) is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and the founder of Schema Mental Health, an LGBTQ+ affirming telehealth psychiatry practice for adults across Florida. A military veteran, former healthcare administrative leader, and member of the LGBTQ+ community, Tyler offers unhurried psychiatric evaluations and medication management with supportive therapy built into every visit. He is also an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider with specialized training in adult ADHD. Tyler treats ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma, and related conditions, using validated screening tools at every appointment to track progress. Patients can expect clear explanations, shared decisions, and care that respects their identity, relationships, and goals. LGBTQ+ forward. Everyone welcome.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Your first visit is a 60-minute psychiatric evaluation by secure video. Please complete your intake forms in the patient portal beforehand, join from a private space, and have a list of current medications and past treatments handy. You're always welcome to share your name and pronouns. Schema is not a crisis service; if you are in crisis, call or text 988 or call 911.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a thorough 60-minute evaluation of your history, goals, and what has or hasn't worked. Together we build a plan that may include medication when clinically appropriate, supportive therapy, lifestyle changes, or a referral. Follow-ups are 30 minutes (45 when you need more time), every few weeks at first and then spaced out as you stabilize, with validated screening tools at every appointment to track progress.
