I made a two-hour commute from Brooklyn to see Dr. Uche Akwuba for a required work physical. When I realized transit delays would make me late for my 2 PM appointment, I called the office. After a long hold—my call log shows 25 minutes—a male staff member confirmed with the doctor that I could arrive closer to 3 PM and wait if needed.
I arrived at 2:40 PM, checked in and explained the conversation, only to be told the provider “had to leave early” and would not see me. While I was trying to advocate for myself, I could see him casually walking by with a coffee, showing no sign of urgency.
Thankfully another provider stepped in, but the experience was unprofessional and discourteous. I confirmed my late arrival and was assured I would be seen; that promise was ignored. I cannot recommend Dr. Akwuba—patients deserve providers who honor confirmed appointments and communicate honestly.
