Getting to know Dr. Udo Chukwuocha

I'm Dr. Udo Chukwuocha, DNP, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing compassionate, evidence-based care for adults. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, insomnia, trauma-related disorders, and women's mental health through personalized medication management and supportive psychotherapy. My approach is collaborative, holistic, and patient-centered. I believe every individual deserves to feel heard, understood, and actively involved in their treatment. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where we work together to help you achieve lasting mental wellness and improve your quality of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and my goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel heard and respected. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and you deserve compassionate care without fear of stigma. I view treatment as a partnership. Rather than simply prescribing medication, I take the time to understand your story, educate you on your options, and develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals. When appropriate, I also incorporate evidence-based integrative strategies alongside medication to support your overall well-being. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, insomnia, or another mental health concern, my priority is to help you feel informed, empowered, and confident in your care. My hope is that every visit leaves you feeling heard, supported, and one step closer to healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Getting started is easy. Once you schedule your initial appointment, you'll receive intake paperwork to complete before your visit, covering your mental health history, current symptoms, medications, medical history, and treatment goals. Completing these forms ahead of time allows us to dedicate our first session to understanding you—not paperwork. Initial Evaluation (60 minutes) Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to understand the whole picture—not just your symptoms, but your experiences, medical history, lifestyle, strengths, and goals. Together, we'll discuss what's worked, what hasn't, and explore the factors contributing to how you're feeling. By the end of our visit, you'll have a clear understanding of my clinical impressions, your treatment options, and a personalized plan that may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, and evidence-based integrative strategies when appropriate. Follow-Up Appointments (30 or 50 minutes) After your initial evaluation, follow-up visits focus on monitoring your progress, evaluating how you're responding to treatment, addressing new concerns, and adjusting your treatment plan as needed. Whether you choose a focused medication management visit or a more comprehensive follow-up, each appointment is tailored to your individual needs. I typically see new patients monthly until we establish a stable, effective treatment plan, then transition to visits every three months for most established patients, as clinically appropriate. Between Appointments You'll have access to a secure patient portal where you can send non-urgent messages, request medication refills, and manage your care between visits. I believe quality psychiatric care extends beyond the appointment itself, and I strive to ensure you feel supported throughout your treatment. My goal is for every visit to leave you feeling heard, informed, and empowered. I believe the best outcome
