Psychologist
CT
ABOUT I am a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified mindfulness teacher. I completed my M.S. and Ph.D. at the University of Miami, my pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Yale University School of Medicine and my postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School/VA Boston Healthcare System. I completed my mindfulness teacher training at the Engaged Mindfulness Institute (EMI), an institute dedicated to trauma-informed mindfulness and supporting individuals in at-risk situations and communities that have been marginalized and under-served. I am deeply committed to the delivery of compassionate and evidence-based therapies. Towards this, I focus on providing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). These therapies are two of the most rigorously investigated psychological treatments and have been shown to be highly effective for a wide range of difficulties. My areas of specialization are providing individual and family therapy, for adolescents and adults, who are struggling with conditions including depression, anxiety and trauma. I am an avid practitioner of mindfulness and am highly committed to sharing the ideas of this transformative practice. Related to this, I incorporate mindfulness practice into psychotherapy sessions, am a certified mindfulness teacher (CMT) and serve as a facilitator, and former executive board member, at the Copper Beech Institute, a center dedicated to mindfulness practice and compassionate action. I am an active student of neuroscience and incorporate neurobiological principles into psychotherapy to assist individuals to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the therapeutic process. I am a passionate social activist and focus my work on the intersection of the carceral system and mental health.
