“Verkeitta is a truly exceptional Psychiatric NP who blends deep compassion with remarkable expertise. From day one, her empathy made me feel safe and truly heard not rushed or judged. She sits with you through the hardest moments while never losing sight of your strength. Clinically, she’s just as impressive she explains the why behind every treatment, from neurobiology to side effects, and stays current on the latest research. I never feel like just another chart number with her. What I appreciate most is how Verkeitta empowers me to make informed decisions about my own care. She respects what my mind and body are telling her while offering sharp, knowledgeable guidance. If you want a provider who treats the whole person not just the diagnosis and who brings both emotional warmth and clinical rigor to every session, look no further. Verkeitta is a true gem.”

Getting to know Verkeitta Jones

I am Verkeitta Jones, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based psychiatric care for adults. My clinical experience includes outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management, mental health care coordination, crisis intervention, and collaborative treatment planning. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, mood disturbances, stress-related concerns, and other mental health challenges. At Vera's Loving Hands, I believe effective psychiatric care begins with understanding the whole person, not simply treating a diagnosis. My approach combines thoughtful medication management, patient education, shared decision-making, and supportive therapeutic strategies to help patients achieve meaningful improvements in their daily lives. I recognize that mental health concerns can affect relationships, employment, physical health, and overall quality of life. Together, we develop realistic treatment goals that reflect your individual needs, experiences, and preferences. I am committed to providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and LGBTQ+ affirming care. My professional background includes extensive work with Veterans and individuals from diverse and historically underserved communities. Whether you are beginning psychiatric treatment or seeking continuity of care, my goal is to provide a respectful, supportive environment where you feel heard, informed, and actively involved in your treatment. Vera's Loving Hands provides adult psychiatric services through telehealth in Florida and Washington, with a focus on accessible, structured, and patient-centered care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means receiving psychiatric care that is collaborative, respectful, and focused on your individual treatment goals. I understand that discussing mental health concerns can feel uncomfortable, particularly when you have experienced unsuccessful treatments or felt unheard by previous providers. My priority is to create an environment where you can communicate openly without judgment. My practice primarily focuses on psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing symptom monitoring rather than traditional weekly psychotherapy. I incorporate brief supportive interventions, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies when appropriate. I believe patients deserve to understand their diagnoses, medication options, potential side effects, and treatment alternatives. Recommendations are based on clinical assessment, medical history, evidence-based guidelines, and shared decision-making. I value consistency, communication, and active participation in treatment. Together, we work toward improving symptom stability, daily functioning, and overall emotional well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The process begins with reviewing your appointment request, completing required registration forms, and verifying insurance eligibility or self-pay arrangements before your appointment is confirmed. During your initial psychiatric evaluation, we will discuss your presenting concerns, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatments, current medications, family history, lifestyle factors, and personal goals. I conduct a comprehensive assessment to better understand your symptoms, identify potential diagnoses, and determine appropriate treatment recommendations. When clinically indicated, we will discuss medication options, potential benefits and risks, alternative treatments, and relevant laboratory testing or referrals. Follow-up appointments are structured around monitoring symptoms, reviewing medication effectiveness and tolerability, assessing progress, and making necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. Supportive strategies, medication education, and practical symptom-management techniques may be incorporated into visits. When ongoing psychotherapy or a different level of care is appropriate, referrals and collaborative coordination may be recommended. The goal is to maintain an individualized, sustainable treatment plan that promotes long-term stability and improved functioning.
