“The doctor was AMAZING! She listened to all my concerns, and asked about my comfort and consent every step of the way during the appointment. She was knowledgeable about my conditions and even gave recommendations for ointments to use. Action was taken right away when addressing something that could potentially be an issue with my health. The doctor was also knowledgeable about dark skin and textured hair which is VERY difficult to find. Overall, great appointment.”

About Dr. Viba Malaiyandi
Viba Malaiyandi, MD was born in Canada and raised in Toronto, Canada. She earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in Pharmacogenetics from the University of Toronto, where she was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society and awarded the Lillian Massey Treble Gold Medal for the highest academic achievement. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in Pharmacogenetics at the University of Toronto, developing a strong interest in research and teaching. During her graduate studies, she received a competitive grant from the Canadian Institute of Health Research to complete her thesis on pharmacogenetics and nicotine addiction.
Dr. Malaiyandi received her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada and completed her clinical rotations in New York City. She was inducted into the prestigious Iota Epsilon Alpha Honor Society during her first year of medical school and remained on the Dean’s List for academic excellence throughout her training.
She returned to Toronto for residency, where she was accepted into the highly competitive Dermatology Residency Program at the University of Toronto, ranked among the top 10 academic dermatology programs worldwide. During residency, she served as Chief Resident in her final year and received multiple awards for excellence in clinical research and resident teaching.
Dr. Malaiyandi is double board-certified in Dermatology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Her clinical focus includes medical dermatology and cosmetic procedures. She also has a strong interest in skincare science and is the co-founder of dermtheory (dermtheory.com), a brand centered on evidence-based skincare with a “less-is-more” approach to ingredients and routines.
