What should a new client know about working with you?

As a psychiatric provider, one of my deep-seated beliefs is that empowering and equipping the mind for healing must take priority over medicating the brain. Before I prescribe, I thoroughly assess if/why I have to treat a condition with medications. I promote therapy and complimentary and integrative treatments whenever appropriate. I often tell my clients, “work hard in therapy so you can fire me.” I treat my clients with respect and kindness; I listen, I validate their experience, I am thorough and holistic in evaluation and treatment. All appointments are conducted via telehealth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Patient evaluation: includes evaluation of screening tools answers, patient interview, examination of co-morbidities, past psychiatric history, psychosocial factors, and clinical data Treatment options offered: medication (if needed and accepted), referral to therapy and/or other non-pharmacological modalities, recommendations for life style modifications
