“Everything went very well and Dr. Patel was busy with several patients but took the time to look at my previous X-rays, communicate w/ me, and answered my questions. The only thing I was disappointed about was my insurance was accepted for the visit but not for the customized splint I needed, so I ended up paying out of pocket for it. The woman downstairs that makes them was very efficient & nice. ”

About Dr. Vipul Patel
Dr. Patel grew up in Queens, attended medical school in Brooklyn, and completed his orthopedic surgical training in Manhattan. After practicing outside the city, he returned to Brooklyn, where he began his medical journey.
Dr. Patel is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, graduating at the top of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute, a top orthopedic surgery residency program. Dr. Patel pursued fellowship training at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, specializing in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, gaining extensive experience in complex conditions. He further enhanced his skills with microsurgery training at the Microsurgery Training and Research Laboratory at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in Orthopedic Biomechanics at the Musculoskeletal Research Center at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases.
Dr. Patel has served as the in-house physician for Madison Square Garden, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Martha Graham Dance School. He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, authored several book chapters, and presented at national and regional orthopedic and hand surgery meetings. He received multiple accolades for clinical excellence, including awards at the 2005 and 2006 Annual Smith & Nephew National Resident Research Competition and the Senior Resident Research Award for Basic Science Research in Orthopedic Surgery in 2008.
Dr. Patel’s interests focus on complex hand and upper extremity problems, with a dedicated approach to both nonsurgical and surgical treatment options.
