What should a new client know about working with you?

Welcome! I am Dr. Vivian Nwankwo, DNP, With over 25 years of experience in mental health care, I bring a unique blend of medical expertise, psychiatric specialization, and therapeutic experience to my practice. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, respected, and supported. My approach is compassionate, holistic, and individualized. I look beyond symptoms and diagnoses to understand you as a whole person, including your experiences, relationships, challenges, strengths, and personal goals. My philosophy is that medication is not always the answer. Although medication can be beneficial when clinically appropriate, I believe effective mental health care involves exploring the whole picture. I integrate psychiatric treatment with therapeutic support, healthy coping strategies, lifestyle considerations, and practical tools to promote lasting emotional wellness. My goal is never simply to prescribe medication, but to help you find the treatment approach that best supports your needs. As a doctorally prepared, dual medical and psychiatric nurse practitioner and therapist, I combine medical and psychological perspectives to provide comprehensive care. I work with individuals experiencing Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, PTSD / Trauma-related conditions, Substance use, Gender dysphoria and LGBTQ+ I strive to create a welcoming, inclusive, and judgment-free environment where you can speak openly and actively participate in your care. Whether you are struggling with life's challenges, seeking emotional balance, or ready for meaningful change, I will meet you with compassion, understanding, and professional expertise. At Vivanchi Radiant Health, I believe healing begins when you feel seen, heard, and valued. You are more than your diagnosis, and you do not have to navigate life's challenges alone. Together, we can work toward greater resilience emotional well-being, and a healthier, more fulfilling life. Your journey matters. Your well-being is my priority.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach begins with creating a welcoming, compassionate, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable being heard, understood, and respected. During our first appointment, I take time to learn about you as a whole person, not just the symptoms or challenges that brought you to treatment. We will discuss your concerns, mental health history, personal experiences, current stressors, strengths, goals, and what you hope to achieve through our work together. I believe effective mental health care should be personalized, collaborative, and holistic. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that reflects your individual needs, preferences, and goals. Depending on your situation, our work may include supportive therapy, exploring emotional and behavioral patterns, developing healthy coping strategies, medication management, or a combination of approaches. I do not believe medication is the answer for everyone. I consider the whole picture, including emotional well-being, relationships, lifestyle, environmental stressors, and physical health. When medication is appropriate, I will explain the available options, benefits, and potential side effects so we can make informed decisions together. Your voice and preferences matter throughout this process. During follow-up appointments, we will review your progress, discuss what is working, address any concerns, and adjust your treatment plan when necessary. I encourage open communication and believe that meaningful progress happens when patients feel empowered, supported, and actively involved in their care. My goal is not simply to manage symptoms but to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, build resilience, restore balance, and develop the tools to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence. Healing is a journey, and you do not have to navigate it alone. I look forward to partnering with you in creating a path toward improved mental health, personal growth, and lasting emotional wellbeing.
