Getting to know Dr. Vivian Owusu-Mensah
I have been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2011. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Wilkes University and hold a Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Global. In August 2021, I received a mental health post-doctorate certificate from Brandman University.
Dr. Vivian Owusu-Mensah, DNP, ANP-BC, PMHNP-BC, is a doctoral-prepared and board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner as well as a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered care to all of her patients and truly embraces our mission and goal statement.
Dr. Trevor G. Forbes, MD, is a collaborative physician associated with this practice.

My experience was well. I think having it been my first time communicating to a physiatrist in a while, I was able to get a feel of how to better articulate myself. I see where I may have to dive deeper in order for my provider to get a better understanding of situation. I would go back because I can see myself developing a stronger relationship with Dr. Vivian. I really liked this visit and pretty much everything went smoothly. My only feedback is that it was not clear when i booked the appointment that it would take place over Headspace, b/c i was asked to create accounts on multiple websites and did not receive any instructions for how to join the virtual meeting, so i called the "Help" number for the doctor. I should add tho that i scheduled this appointment in less than 24 hours' notice, so i understand if there wasn't time to send usual prep emails.

She was professional, but warm. For some parts of the visit, it was uncomfortable to talk about some personal things, but Dr. Owusu-Mensah was personable and we were actually able to laugh a little bit together at lighter points in the visit. I was afraid booking an appointment would mean waiting months to be seen, but I booked it on a Thursday and was seen the next Monday. I cannot recommend her enough, she was fantastic and is very trustworthy.

Dr. Owusu-Mensah was wonderful, as were her colleagues. I've mostly had the same psychiatrist for almost 20 years and a pretty traumatic experience when I saw a different one a few years ago, so changing doctors made me a bit nervous.
It turns out I had nothing to worry about because Dr. Owusu-Mensah was attentive, thorough and didn't try to tell me that I have other psychiatric conditions (which the traumatic psychiatrist did before she ghosted me for weeks and I couldn't get my bipolar medication, which caused serious issues with my friends and job at the time). I agreed to have two med students join the video call and they were also fantastic, I actually hope all three of them join for my follow-up appointment in January!
Great experience, great doctor, 10 of 10 would recommend!
