What should a new client know about working with you?

Dr. Eugene takes a collaborative, practical, and individualized approach to care. His goal is for every patient to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment. Dr. Eugene’s style is supportive, straightforward, and nonjudgmental. He takes time to understand not only your symptoms, but also how they affect your daily life, relationships, work or school, sleep, and overall functioning. He believes treatment works best when patients understand the reasoning behind recommendations and feel comfortable asking questions. When medication is appropriate, Dr. Eugene favors thoughtful, evidence-based decisions and gradual adjustments when possible. He also incorporates supportive therapy, psychoeducation, coping strategies, and lifestyle recommendations to address the bigger picture rather than focusing only on individual symptoms. You can expect open communication, shared decision-making, and a treatment plan tailored to your goals. Dr. Eugene’s focus is on helping you achieve meaningful, sustainable improvement in both how you feel and how you function.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first visit is focused on getting a clear understanding of what you are experiencing and what you want to improve. We will review your symptoms, mental health history, medications, sleep, daily functioning, relationships, work or school concerns, and previous treatment experiences. From there, we will discuss my clinical impressions and create a treatment plan together. Depending on your needs, this may include medication management, supportive therapy, psychoeducation, coping strategies, and lifestyle recommendations. Follow-up visits are used to review your progress, medication effectiveness, side effects, symptom changes, and overall functioning. Treatment is adjusted gradually and thoughtfully when needed. My goal is for each session to be structured, collaborative, and practical, with clear next steps and a treatment plan that makes sense for your goals.
