Dr. Wai Yip Chau is a trusted and accomplished bariatric surgeon based in Plainsboro, NJ. Dr. Chau earned his medical degree from the St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada. He then moved to the United States and completed his residency in general surgery at North Oakland Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in bariatric surgery from Hackensack University Medical Center.
Dr. Chau is a part of the Center for Bariatric Surgery & Metabolic Medicine at UMCP and is affiliated with University Medical Center at Princeton in NJ. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Chau was very informative. He helped me pick the bariatric surgery that was right for me without pushing me one way or the other. He made sure I made the right choice on my own. He was able to explain each surgery, their differences as well as the risks and benefits for each is great detail. He compared and contrasted the two surgeries that I on my own narrowed it down to and was able to inform me of everything I needed to know in order to make the right choice. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about any Bariatric Surgery to see Dr. Chau. He will help explain each surgery in its entirety and help you make the right choice for you as everyone has different needs and concerns. I am currently on my way to finishing the phase 1 process for my surgery!
The office its self is very helpful as well! Lindsey is the one that I have been working closely with and she is able to answer all my questions. She is great with making sure I can get an appointment scheduled around my crazy schedule. They were able to verify my benefits right away while I was with the doctor so I already knew what was covered at my first appointment!
