About Dr. Wendy Long Mitchell
Dr. Wendy Long is a board certified dermatologist and a fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. She is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, having completed an accredited fellowship in this specialized surgery for skin cancers on the face. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University Medical School, where she teaches the dermatology residents and medical students.
After graduating from the Honors College at the University of Michigan with Phi Beta Kappa membership, she attended medical school at New York University. During medical school she published a public education book, Coping with Melanoma and Other Skin Cancers. She then completed a residency in Dermatology at the University of Michigan. During her residency she was the Melanoma Fellow, which allowed her to be an integral part of the treatment of melanomas from diagnosis through treatment in the largest multidisciplinary melanoma treatment center in the world.
Upon completion of her residency, she continued her training in Boston where she did a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic, Cosmetic, and Laser Surgery. Mohs Surgery is a highly specialized surgical procedure for the removal of skin cancers on the face, scalp and neck. During this fellowship she also gained expertise in the surgical reconstruction required after skin cancer removal, resulting in superior aesthetic results.
