What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a supportive, steady, and judgment-free space—especially if you’ve been carrying depression or PTSD for a long time. I know how exhausting it can be to feel stuck, numb, on edge, or like you’re constantly bracing for the next thing. You won’t be rushed or talked down to. I’ll take the time to understand your story, what you’ve been through, what your symptoms look like day-to-day, and what has or hasn’t helped so far. We’ll build a plan together that’s clear and practical. I’ll explain treatment options in plain language, set realistic goals, and make sure you know what to expect at each step. If medication is part of your care, I’m thoughtful and evidence-based—focused on what’s most likely to help, monitoring side effects, and adjusting based on how you’re actually feeling and functioning. I’m also very aware that PTSD and depression often show up differently for different people—sleep problems, irritability, panic, avoidance, intrusive memories, low motivation, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. My goal is for you to feel understood, supported, and empowered—so you leave each visit with a sense of direction and hope, not just another appointment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is structured, but it’s always personalized to you—especially when we’re working with depression and PTSD. We start with a thorough intake where I learn your full picture: what you’re experiencing day to day, what you’ve been through, how your sleep and energy are, what triggers or patterns you’ve noticed, and what treatments you’ve already tried. I’ll also review safety concerns, substance use (if relevant), medical history, and any medications or supplements you’re taking. From there, we build a clear plan together. That usually includes specific symptom goals (sleep, mood, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, motivation), a treatment approach that matches your preferences, and a realistic timeline for follow-up. If medication is part of your care, I explain the “why,” what to expect, and how we’ll monitor both benefits and side effects. Follow-ups are consistent and focused. We track what’s changing, what’s not, and what’s getting in the way—then we adjust the plan based on your real-world response. I also strongly encourage collaboration with therapy when appropriate, and I coordinate with your therapist or care team (with your permission) so you’re not carrying everything alone. The goal is steady progress with a plan that feels manageable—so you feel supported, informed, and confident about the next step each time we meet.
