About Dr. William Chavey

William Chavey, MD, MS graduated from The University of Texas Medical Branch in 1992. He then went on to the University of Michigan, where he completed his residency in Family Medicine in 1995. After two years at the University of North Carolina, he returned to the University of Michigan where he has been on the faculty in the Department of Family Medicine since 1997 and is currently service chief for the department. Dr. Chavey, and several colleagues founded Emmaus Health in 2014 as a way to create a model for Catholic outpatient primary care - initially in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but with an eye toward extending the model to other communities throughout the country. Clinically, Dr. Chavey practices general Family Medicine, but has expertise in inpatient medicine and in complex chronic illness, most specifically cardiovascular disease. He has conducted research in congestive heart failure, disease management systems, and global health. Procedures he offers include freezing of warts, laceration repair, abscess drainage, skin lesion biopsy/excision, cauterization of umbilical granulomas, and joint aspiration/injection. Dr. Chavey offers in office visits as well as video visits via the patient's computer or smart phone for established patients. He is licensed in Michigan. Dr. Chavey is a native Texan (Hook 'em Horns!) but now enjoys living in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) with his wife and seven children. They are members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Ann Arbor.
