Getting to know Dr. Wilmarie Cidre Serrano

What should a new client know about working with you?

Above all, I bring a human, warm, understanding and non-judgmental approach to care. I believe that psychological suffering is multifactorial. During our time together, we will explore the individual-level biological and psychological factors affecting your life, as well as the cultural and systemic factors that may be influencing your emotional well-being. I partner with my patients to augment their wellbeing, self-understanding, fulfillment, motivation and personal effectiveness. I provide both medication management and psychotherapy sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In your initial appointment, my objective is to understand you as an individual and achieve diagnostic clarity to formulate an effective treatment plan. The intake process typically spans 2-3 sessions, during which I will pose various questions and gather comprehensive information about your current circumstances, as well as your medical and psychiatric histories. Subsequently, I will share my initial insights, and together, we will collaboratively develop a treatment plan that aligns with your goals and values. My practice encompasses both medication management and psychotherapy, and I look forward to the possibility of continuing our therapeutic journey beyond the intake phase. However, if it becomes apparent during this process that a patient may benefit from a referral, I will transparently communicate this and assist in connecting the patient with the appropriate level and type of care.
