What should a new client know about working with you?

As your Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and collaborative space where you feel heard and supported. I approach care with compassion, evidence-based practice, and cultural sensitivity. You can expect the following when working with me: 1. A Partnership in Your Care I believe treatment works best when we make decisions together. Your preferences, experiences, and goals guide our work. I will explain options clearly so you can make informed choices. 2. A Safe, Non-Judgmental Environment Mental health concerns can be sensitive. You can expect empathy, confidentiality, and a space where you can speak freely without fear of judgment. 3. A Holistic Approach I look at the full picture—your symptoms, physical health, lifestyle, stressors, and strengths. Treatment may include therapy-focused approaches, medication management, or both. 4. Clear Communication I explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications in a way that is easy to understand. You are always encouraged to ask questions, express concerns, and share what is or is not working. 5. Evidence-Based Care I use research-supported treatments tailored to your unique situation. My goal is to help you achieve meaningful, sustainable improvement in your mental health. 6. Active Monitoring and Follow-Up We will check in regularly to monitor your progress, adjust treatments, and celebrate your improvements. Your feedback is essential at every step. 7. Respect for Your Background and Identity Your culture, beliefs, and personal history matter. I integrate them respectfully into your care plan.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As your Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I follow a structured, compassionate, and evidence-based process designed to provide safe, personalized, and effective mental health care. 1. Initial Contact & Preparation Before our first session, I review any referral information, past records, and questionnaires you may have completed. This helps me understand your concerns and ensures our time together is meaningful. 2. Comprehensive Initial Psychiatric Evaluation Our first full appointment usually takes 45–60 minutes. During this visit, I will:     •    Explore your current symptoms and concerns     •    Review your psychiatric, medical, and family history     •    Discuss social, lifestyle, and environmental factors     •    Screen for safety, risk, trauma, substance use, and physical health conditions     •    Understand your strengths, goals, and expectations My goal is to understand the whole person—not just the symptoms. 3. Collaborative Diagnosis & Treatment Planning After gathering information, we work together to:     •    Clarify a diagnosis (if appropriate)     •    Identify short-term and long-term treatment goals     •    Discuss treatment options, which may include     •    Medication management     •    Psychotherapy approaches     •    Lifestyle interventions (sleep, stress, nutrition, etc.)     •    Referral to additional services, if needed You will always be included in decisions about your care. 4. Medication Management (If Chosen) If medication is part of your plan, I will:     •    Explain how the medication works     •    Review benefits, risks, and alternatives     •    Start with the lowest effective dose when clinically appropriate     •    Monitor response, side effects, and overall well-being You are encouraged to share any concerns openly. 5. Ongoing Follow-Up Visits Follow-up appointments are typically every 2–4 weeks initially, then extended as symptoms stabilize. During these visits, we will:     •    Review progre
