He earned his medical degree and completed his pediatric residency at the Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia by 1994. For over a decade, he gained international experience as a pediatrician and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Armed Forces Hospital in Addis Ababa. He ultimately completed another pediatric residency at the New York Methodist Hospital in New York City, NY in 2011. He is Board Certified by The American Board of Pediatrics. Prior to joining VPG in 2017, he worked as a pediatrician and hospitalist in Wisconsin and in Illinois for several years. He is fluent in English, Amharic, and Tigrigna. His special areas of interest include Preventive Medicine, Immunizations, and Nutrition. He resides in Alexandria with his wife, daughter and two sons. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, walking, reading, and music.
