My Best Self LLC is the private practice of Psychiatrist Dr. Yana Bekker, with locations in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY, and Midtown Manhattan, NY. At My Best Self, we offer a holistic approach to mental health, focusing on your overall well-being, which includes addressing your physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
While treatment often combines medication, therapy, and lifestyle modifications, we personalize care to ensure each patient receives precisely what they need to lead a fulfilling life.
Dr. Bekker is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, having earned her medical degree from Touro College and University System in New York. She completed her residency in psychiatry at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University. She takes the time to get to know each patient and provides a complete evaluation of their medical and psychiatric history. We offer highly customized, comprehensive treatment plans that consider vitamin deficiencies, hormone levels, co-occurring medical illnesses, and lifestyle factors.
As a board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Bekker is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association.

She was the first doctor to make me aware of politics in the medical office and pharmaceuticals they will or will not prescribe. When I came to her office with prescriptions that were working for me, she deliberately told me those are “bad” and that I needed different ones. Two doctors later and I'm hearing different things from everyone. Poor listener. Wouldn't recommend ever.

I've only had one visit with Dr. Bekker, but my impression is that she is possibly the most thorough and personable psychiatrist I have ever worked with. The intake was smooth, all done online and I like that she has a patient portal which makes it easy to communicate. Even the person I communicated with regarding insurance/scheduling was great! Highly recommend.

Today was my very first visit with Dr. Bekker. There was no wait upon arrival. She spent an adequate amount of time with me to ask targeted questions that enabled her to figure out a diagnosis and treatment plan. She listens, really listens, and conveyed concern and respect for my feelings. Dr. Bekker has a good understanding of medications, their safety issues, and interactions. She offers resources, consultation, email, phone contact, and computer communication as alternatives if the going gets too rough.
Dr. Bekker allowed me to include my husband at this first session.
I don't have much experience with Dr. Bekker yet. But so far, so good, She is warm, empathic, knowledgeable and articulate. She has a manner that makes it easy for patients to feel comfortable confiding in her. Thank you, Dr. Bekker and Eugene. Child loss is the worst thing that could have happened to me. Dr. Bekker gives me hope.
