Marriage and Family Therapist
NY
Reaching out for support takes courage, and whatever brings you here, you are welcome. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and my hope is that from our very first conversation you feel heard, respected, and genuinely understood. My approach is warm, open-minded, and led by you. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all formula. Instead, we'll work together to understand what matters most to you and shape our sessions around your goals, your values, your culture, and the way you feel most comfortable growing. Some people want practical tools; others want space to reflect. Most want a little of both, and that's perfectly okay. I welcome clients from all backgrounds, and I hold a special place in my heart for those navigating life between languages and cultures. As a trilingual therapist, I offer sessions in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, so you can share your story in the language that feels most like home. If this feels like a fit, I'd be glad to support you — you're welcome to book an appointment to get started.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My path to this work has been a journey across cultures. I grew up in China and taught middle school before coming to the United States to earn my Master's in education. After several years teaching Mandarin, I entered the field of applied behavior analysis and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, supporting neurodiverse individuals and children with special needs — along with their families — in clinics, homes, and schools. That experience moved me deeply, and it inspired me to study Marriage and Family Therapy so I could help people strengthen the circle of support around them. What this means for you is simple: I listen first. I respect your agency and see you as the expert on your own life. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, patient, and nonjudgmental space where we explore what matters to you, clarify the goals that feel meaningful, and build practical, realistic plans to reach them — together, and at your own pace. Whether you come as an individual, a couple, or a family, my role is to walk alongside you. I offer sessions in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, so you can share your story in the language that feels most like home.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. There's no pressure to have everything figured out — you can simply share what brings you in, and I'll listen closely to understand your story, your background, and what you're hoping for. Together we'll begin to name the goals that matter most to you. From there, each session is a collaborative conversation. This is talk therapy, so we'll usually meet regularly — often weekly at first — in a calm, confidential space where you can speak openly. We'll explore what's on your mind, notice patterns together, and work through challenges at a pace that feels right for you. Depending on what you need, I might offer practical tools and coping strategies, or simply create room to reflect and feel supported. I'll check in with you often to make sure our work still feels helpful and aligned with your goals. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive — I draw on several therapy styles and adapt them to fit your identity, values, and preferences, rather than the other way around. As a trilingual therapist, I offer sessions in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. You lead, and I'll walk alongside you every step of the way.
