Getting to know Dr. Yehoshua (Josh) Bochner

For many, being in emotional pain, suffering from depression and anxiety, or struggling with relationship difficulties has become a "norm" – a "way of life." Life can be complicated and even difficult at times, but emotional pain does not have to be part of it. Whether you are experiencing relationship difficulties, feeling sad or depressed, anxious, or lonely, psychotherapy is an important and effective way to find happiness, self-acceptance, and experience a generally better quality of life. In our work together, you will greatly benefit from my empathic, supportive, and effective treatment. In therapy, you will become more confident and develop the capacity to navigate life with happiness and vigor. I hold a PhD in Psychology from Fielding Graduate University and have experience in a wide range of treatment modalities, including psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapies, CBT, and both short-term and long-term psychotherapy. My diverse approach culminates in offering a meaningful and healing psychotherapeutic experience. Seeking help is in itself a courageous step. The psychotherapeutic process can be overwhelming. I hope that you will feel comforted and supported when you reach out to me and ultimately see a significant improvement in your life. If your insurance does not cover visits with me, I will help with obtaining out-of-network reimbursement (if applicable).

What should a new client know about working with you?

The initial sessions are designed to get a sense of the issues you are facing and whether we make a good fit. I will try to learn about your history, the formative experiences of your life, the painful and challenging experiences you faced, and the areas of your life that currently trouble you. My style very much tries to integrate being helpful in a practical manner, while also addressing the roots and deeper origins of the challenges you face. A central focus in the treatment is that you gain a comprehensive understanding of yourself and to develop your inner strength so that you are able to address and overcome the struggles you face. I strongly believe that the therapeutic process is most helpful if the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a vehicle for developing greater insight and self-awareness. Hence, in our work, I will focus on the feelings, emotions, and thoughts that develop as we work together.

I made so much progress. Mental health is not always an easy journey, but Dr. Bochner is always at my side with patience and care.
I had many unsuccessful relationships over the years that ended badly. I went to therapy to understand what I was doing wrong. Dr. Bochner helped me see how I approached relationships and that I was actually getting in my own way! Loved the session. He is kind and smart.
Excellent as always

Dr . Bochner is so kind and empathetic. Besides his great listening skills, I also felt that he encouraged me to explore the areas of my life that are deeply hurtful to me and I needed to explore them to be able to heal. Overall I am so happy to have had this appointment.
Doctor Bochner is amazing!
Dr. Bochner is a unique combination, of talent, competence, and kindness. I have seen many therapists over the years. Some better/worse than others. But I never felt that my therapist truly cared about me. Dr. Bochner I feel truly cares about me. During the past few months I have been going through a particular hard time. Not only was Dr. Bochner helpful and devoted, but he was available to me outside of sessions if I needed the extra support and a caring sympathetic listening ear. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Dr. Bochner is outstanding. I had high expectations going in based on previous reviews, and those expectations were exceeded. Dr. Bochner is an outstanding listener who provides incredibly insightful comments. Granted, Dr. Bochner is a therapist, but there are people I have known for years who would not have understood me or what I was saying as expertly as Dr. Bochner did. I was apprehensive walking to the appointment, but Dr. Bochner allayed those apprehensions almost immediately. The session, which was an initial one, was wonderful. Dr. Bochner is compassionate and attentive, and I could not recommend him highly enough. Overall, my wife and I had an amazing experience and not only will be back next week—we’re looking forward to it.

Refused to provide me with appropriate help. Seemed to be someone who cares about his patients but still didnt help from what I witnessed first hand. Definitely would highly NOT recommend going if youre looking for someone to help you.
Please see this doctor! He listens, he’s kind. I’ve genuinely never really had luck with therapists but from the first 5 minutes I knew I was at the right place :)
My first time ever seeing a psychologist and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Dr. Bochner is kind and attentive, which allowed for a very comfortable first session. He also offered direct assistance in sorting out issues related to insurance etc. I'll definitely be seeing him again and am looking forward to it.
I’ve only had one session with Dr. Bochner so far, but he has a great way of guiding the session. In my time with him he worked through topics brought up and delved into them in a detailed, empathic manner. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I hope to continue with him as my therapist.

I am sharing this because this appointment has changed my life and I hope that this review will help others. I regularly struggle with sadness and don't understand why I am often so unhappy in life. Dr. Bochner is so exceptionally kind as he listens patiently and careful probes for more information and history. I felt comfortable to share. Dr. Bochner helped me understand that my experiences and frustrations is rooted deep in my mind and in my way of thinking. I know enough about therapy to appreciate that there is no quick fix and that it will take time. But I am very happy to be working with Dr. Bochner knowing that I am in good hands.
Dr. Bochner is kind and patient. He was genuinely interested in me as a person and open to explore every aspect of my life. In the session, was able to untangle so many confusing feelings. I left feeling lighter and more optimistic about my future. I know that it’s a prolonged process, but for once I am feeling hopeful.
I've now been seeing Dr. Bochner for a while. I appreciate his slow and steady approach. I am feeling much better and the people around me notice it.
I have been struggling with depression for most of my life. I've seen my share of therapists. Dr. Bochner is a different league. He is kind, compassionate, and exceptionally perceptive. First, he was interested in a through history of my struggles but simultaneously made comments that made me say oh, I get it. That's an interesting take on my experience. He portrayed an excellent grasp of my issues and was able to make me feel comfortable opening-up and feel more optimistic about my future. I am very glad that I found him and look forward to working with him.
