Her career spans a wide range of clinical and leadership roles across hospitals and community settings throughout the United States. She has practiced in diverse areas including neuroscience nursing, healthcare administration, nursing informatics, nursing education, critical care medicine, cardiology, and psychiatry. Dr. Cruz-Fernandez earned her Master of Science in Nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Wayne State University, a Post-Master’s Graduate Certificate as a Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Regis College, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University. Her professional experiences in both large metropolitan centers and rural communities with limited access to care have shaped a deep commitment to expanding access to affordable, high-quality mental health services. She is passionate about meeting patients where they are and delivering compassionate, evidence-based care regardless of geographic or socioeconomic barriers. Outside of her professional practice, Dr. Cruz-Fernandez enjoys spending quality time outdoors with her husband, three children, and pets. In her free time, she also enjoys reading books and staying current with nursing and psychiatric journals and traveling.
