Yui Kitayama, APRN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
1123 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA
Whether you're living with depression, anxiety, or mood swings that haven't fully lifted, you deserve psychiatric care that takes the time to understand you. I'm a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with more than 13 years of experience, including eight years of inpatient psychiatry and psychiatric triage at McLean Hospital, followed by work in community mental health across outpatient, crisis, and multidisciplinary settings. I treat depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, and psychotic disorders including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. My approach is collaborative and person-centered: together we'll understand what's driving your symptoms, clarify your goals, and build a treatment plan that fits your life and values. Visits are more than a prescription check. I bring in psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and practical behavioral strategies, because medication tends to work best alongside real therapeutic support. I also have a special interest in reproductive and perinatal mental health. I'm certified through Postpartum Support International (PMH-C), with advanced training in perinatal psychopharmacology. I'm committed to serving people who have historically faced barriers to mental health care, and I see adults across Georgia by secure telehealth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't need to have the right words before your first visit. I'll ask about what you're experiencing, your history, and what you hope will change, and you're part of every decision about your care. I'll explain your options clearly, including the benefits and trade-offs of any medication, so you leave feeling heard and with a plan you understand.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We'll talk through your current symptoms, history, and goals, and together decide on a treatment plan. That plan may include medication, psychotherapy-informed support, psychoeducation, and practical behavioral strategies. Follow-up visits check in on how you're feeling, review what's working, and adjust the plan as needed.
