Getting to know Dr. Yuliya Hryb

*** A brief phone consultation is required for all new patients. Upon booking an available appointment slot, Dr. Hryb will contact you within 24 business hours to discuss your treatment needs. *** I am a New York Medical College, Lenox Hill Hospital, and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai trained psychiatrist. I see kids, teens, and adults for therapy and also prescribe medications. I am skilled at treating a wide range of conditions including mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, OCD, ADHD, personality and trauma related disorders, as well as psychosis. My special interests include difficulties around transitions, college mental health, and eating disorders. In addition to English, I am fluent in Russian and have full understanding of Polish and intermediate proficiency in Spanish. Currently, I hold a faculty position at NYU Langone Tisch Hospital. Over the years, I have worked in a variety of settings including hospitals as a consultant to medical and surgical teams, inpatient psychiatric units, Veteran’s Administration Hospital, various outpatient programs, intensive eating disorder day treatment program at Mount Sinai, and the New School college mental health center.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach includes both psychotherapy and medication management, when necessary. Main psychotherapeutic modalities include psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT for eating disorders, exposure and response prevention, family based therapy for anorexia nervosa and ARFID, and family therapy. Additionally, I always collaborate with other specialists, primary care physicians, and various mental health providers and schools.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before our appointment, I will reach out to you to speak about treatment goals and answer any questions you may have. If we decide that my practice may not be the best fit for you, I will do my best to provide you with appropriate referrals.
