Getting to know Yuriy Bortnik
Hi! My specialty is psychopharmacology and medication management. I believe in having an open and honest rapport with all patients to establish a trust-based treatment plan. My overall philosophy centers around the patient’s best interests and finding the path forward for the best outcomes.
I am glad to work with any and all patients experiencing depression spectrum symptoms, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. I am experienced in treating first responders and essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic in NYC, as I myself returned to a critical care and bedside role during this time and have a first-person understanding of what you may have seen and felt. In tandem with our treatment, I tend to encourage targeted psychotherapy for those patients who do not currently have therapists. However, everyone is unique, and I am glad to evaluate individual needs!
I hold a Master’s in Psychiatric Nursing from Hunter College, City University of New York. Sliding scale rates are available for first responders, healthcare workers, and college students.

Yuriy has been the best thing that happened to me in the past year. After going through life changing traumatic events in the middle of a pandemic, I didn’t know what to do. I decided that I needed to have answers to questions that would come from a mental health professional. The minute I matched with Yuriy I knew he was supportive, encouraging, open, and genuinely wanted to get to know me so he could help me learn about myself and make sense of how the events in my life have impacted my mental health. But more importantly to me, Yuriy is honest and holds no qualms with calling me out when I revert to old habits. I definitely notice that while actively applying the resources, activities, and mindsets recommended by Yuriy, I am walking through life with a more positive outlook. I feel better about the person I am, rather than believing I am the person everyone else thinks I am. Without Yuriy , I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through this year.

Yuriy was warm, professional, and thorough in his evaluation. He was very receptive to the fact that I have not had success with SSRIs in the past and made thoughtful recommendations for an alternative treatment plan. He made sure I was on board with his suggestions before prescribing anything which helped me feel like an active participant in my own care. Very good experience, highly recommend.
