“I have never had a nurse practitioner for psychiatry. He is amazing, I am not exaggerating. He is the best listener, his responses are for real. No rushing, or letting you know how much time is left. He really wants to help you. I personally will follow him, cause I have seen my share of doctors, and he definitely stands out way above the rest. ”

“This nurse changed my life. I need I needed help just because I suffer from M.S. I have a lot of issues that I am dealing with from the death of my father, losing my house due to hurricane Milton, finding out my father hadn't have a will. Cherry on the sundae my beloved dog GiGi passed, and I found out my nephew who is the only one I have, is on serious drugs. I was in a very dark space, I had grief, pain, and reality to deal with and I didn't want to. Just one hour to share my woe to someone who really listened, and you could tell by his response, he was listening. After I had hung up the phone I new what the saying "time to exhale" meant. It felt so good, I am still working on all my drama, but with Nurse Zakia Frederick by my side I will be ok. ”

Getting to know Zakia Frederick

Zakia Frederick, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides virtual psychiatric care for adults in Florida. He works with patients dealing with anxiety, depression, mood changes, high stress, and difficulty functioning in daily life. He also supports adults who are stepping down from worsening symptoms, emergency visits, or higher levels of care and need a clear outpatient treatment plan. Zakia brings experience from high-acuity clinical settings, with a strong background in psychiatric assessment, risk evaluation, and the treatment of complex mental health concerns. His style is structured, practical, and collaborative. Patients can expect care that is focused on helping them understand their symptoms, review their options, and move forward with a plan that feels realistic and manageable. He is known for a clear and straightforward approach that helps patients feel less overwhelmed and more confident about next steps. Appointments focus on thorough evaluation, clear communication, and thoughtful medication management when appropriate. The goal is not just symptom relief, but helping patients feel more stable, think more clearly, and function better in everyday life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is a structured and collaborative process. My goal is to help you gain clarity on what you’re experiencing and create a treatment plan that is practical, effective, and tailored to you. During your initial visit, we will take a comprehensive look at your symptoms, history, and current concerns. I take the time to understand the full picture so that any diagnosis and treatment recommendations are thoughtful and appropriate. You can expect to leave your first appointment with a clear plan and next steps. If medication is part of your treatment, I approach prescribing carefully and intentionally. I will explain options, discuss risks and benefits, and make decisions with you, not for you. My focus is on using the least amount of medication necessary to achieve meaningful improvement. Follow-up visits are focused on progress. We will track what is working, adjust when needed, and make sure you are moving toward your goals in a steady and sustainable way. I aim to create a space that is respectful, straightforward, and free of judgment. I also value accountability. Consistent follow-up and open communication are important parts of successful treatment. This is a good fit if you are ready to engage in the process and want care that is thoughtful, structured, and focused on real results.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

1. Start with clarity Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation. We’ll talk through what’s been going on, your history, and what you’re hoping to change. I take the time to understand the full picture so we’re not guessing or rushing into decisions. You’ll leave this visit with a clear understanding of what’s going on and what the next steps look like. 2. Build a plan that fits you Treatment is not one-size-fits-all. We’ll create a plan that makes sense for your specific situation. This may include medication, therapy recommendations, or simple adjustments that support your day-to-day functioning. If medication is part of the plan, I’ll walk you through your options clearly so you feel informed and comfortable with every decision. 3. Adjust based on real progress Follow-up visits are focused and purposeful. We’ll track what’s working, what’s not, and make adjustments as needed. Early on, visits may be more frequent to get you stable. As things improve, we space things out. The goal is steady, sustainable progress. Not quick fixes. 4. Keep it consistent and straightforward Good outcomes come from consistency. I expect open communication and regular follow-up so we can stay on track. In return, you can expect care that is attentive, structured, and respectful of your time. Bottom line If you’re looking for care that is thoughtful, not rushed, and focused on real results, this process tends to work well.
