About Dr. Zoe Deol

*Initial consultation may be with an assistant provider. Zoe Deol MD, FACS was born in Rhode Island and raised in Ohio. Dr. Deol moved to Michigan in 1986 to attend Albion College, and has called Michigan her home ever since.  After receiving her bachelor’s degree in biology from Albion College in 1990, she went on to receive her MD from Michigan State University in 1994. She completed her general surgery internship at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio in 1995, and then completed a six-year general surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan in 2001. Following this, Dr. Deol went on to sub-specialize in laparoscopic bariatric surgery by completing a Fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.  From that point, she dedicated her career to designing a multi-disciplinary surgical practice for the evaluation and treatment of all aspects of obesity. During her years in private practice at William Beaumont Hospital in a suburb of Detroit, she completed two additional mini-fellowships in bariatric surgery: one in Pittsburgh with the nation’s leading bariatric surgeon, Philip Schauer, MD (who is now the chief of bariatric surgery at The Cleveland Clinic); and the other in Melbourne Australia with the internationally renowned Paul O’Brien, MD, FRACS, MBBS who is a past council member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity.
