"Dr. O'Leary was very nice and patient. We would recommend this doctor. However, before my mother was seen by Dr. O'Leary, there was another doctor (maybe intern) named Esabela who came and was very rude and seemed like she didn't serve her. My sister-in-law accompanied my mother who didn't speak any English to the appointment. Prior to the appointment, I had made a note on Zocdoc indicating that my mother does not speak English and would need a Cantonese interpreter. On the day of, there was no interpreter present. My sister-in-law, using the minimal English skills that she has, told the front desk staff that I had made the appointment and a request for interpreter online. The doctor (Esabela) was rude and wanted my mother to make another appointment, because there was no one at the hospital to translate for her. My sister-in-law asked Esabela if she would allow phone translation from me or my brother, Esabela said no. She had a bad attitude and appeared inpatient. A nurse came by and told them there was no interpreter. However, my sister-in-law insisted that interpreter service had been requested prior to the appointment. Seeing that my mother and sister-in-law weren't going to leave unless my mother got seen by someone, the nurse finally called again and put someone on the phone to translate. This is not an experience I had intended for my mother and my sister-in-law. I am shocked at this kind of service, considering that Tufts Medical has a good reputation. To the doctor who was rude, if you can't treat your patients with respect and the dignity that they deserve, then don't serve in a hospital where you have to see people. They didn't do anything to deserve that from you. I don't want my family or anyone else to get disrespected like that when they walk into Tufts. "
