Getting to know Dr. Ahron Friedberg

I am a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Manhattan. I am a Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai, where I serve as an integral part of the voluntary faculty. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York, Buffalo. I completed my internship and residency in Psychiatry, as well as a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine, all at The Mount Sinai Hospital. I treat a broad spectrum of psychiatric ailments with a focus on mood and anxiety conditions, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I am the Founding Director of the Park Avenue Center for Wellness and also specialize in leadership coaching. For over a decade, I have led a clinical case conference in psychodynamic psychiatry for colleagues and peers. Additionally, I co-lead a neuropsychoanalysis working group, whose members engage in bridging issues in mind-brain medicine. I consult with patients locally and nationally. Other services I provide include executive coaching, leadership training, mentorship, teletherapy, and creating wellness programs tailored to your needs. I also offer my expertise through numerous telecommunication, videoconferencing, and online services. I maintain a concierge practice of psychiatry and psychotherapy. We are an out-of-network provider who offers courtesy claim submission and other services.

I found the visit transformative! Not only did I feel much better, but also had a path forward. Dr. Friedberg pointed the way
As a leader in business, I need to be effective. Dr. Friedberg help me do my best- and then better it!
He was not the right fit for me. Hes more for rich people. Not everyday people with problems
Intelligent, kind, responsible - all first impressions, of course.

Thoughtful & comprehensive would highly recommend
I booked an appointment and then was contacted by email about speaking to Ahron prior to meeting. I replied to the email, and for the next week I called every day multiple times to his personal phone AND his office phone. I left messages on the office phone, and was unable to leave messages on the full cell phone voicemail inbox. I woke up early, went to the appointment and he wasn't there. I had to wait (outside in the cold) when 20 minutes after the appointment start time Ahron unhurriedly walks up - on the phone - and curtly let me in. He said he doesn't have meetings before speaking to clients on the phone, and - simply assuming via my age and profession - told me I would be "unable to afford his concierge level care". This was after I had emailed him back and tried to call him UPWARDS OF 16 TIMES over the course of a week. I'm trying to get help for my mental instability. This did NOT HELP. In fact, it HURT. A LOT.
Doctor did not show for the appointment.

Stop using Zocdoc
The first time I visited Dr. Friedberg he asked more questions about my insurance than he did about me. I was on my mother's health insurance at the time, and he kept asking about her and what she did for work because her insurance was "so good". At the end of the first visit after telling him what I had been going through he prescribed two medications immediately. During subsequent visits he would barely talk about me or my issues and was seemingly more inclined to make the medication do the work rather than him. Maybe some people like that method, I definitely didn't.
The provider seemed to be very nice but I felt rushed and unheard. To make matter worst I never received my rX. I tried to call the office twice and I received no response. This is the reason so many people are scared to start certain prescriptions because there is a lack of trust with the providers monitoring them. Very disappointed.
The visit with Dr. Friedberg was fine, I just find issue with the fact that he has united healthcare listed as an insurance he accepts, and that’s not the case (confirmed by uhc). He really needs to update his insurance information because as it stands it feels like a bit of bait and switch.

I have been working with Dr. Friedberg for over two years now. In that time he has provided invaluable guidance and advice in all areas of my life. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Doesn’t take my insurance despite saying so on Zocdoc, didn’t accept my appointment and asked me to come in at a different time, didn’t write down that I had an appointment then and was trying to leave when I caught him, couldn’t coordinate getting my prescription filled (multiple emails), couldn’t find any records when my new life insurance inquired for weeks on end, and provided a receipt for more than I paid so that I could “optimize my [health insurance] reimbursement” (which feels wrong to me, even if it’s for my benefit).... pretty shocking when summarized.

Amazing! Amazing! So glad I found him. After suffering for over 4 months with depression/ anxiety, I feel I am finally on my way to recovery . I am so confident in the treatment plan he prescribed for me.
Being able to have a Sunday appointment at his Great Neck location was super convenient. Dr. Friedberg is a highly educated and experienced psychiatrist/practicing psychoanalyst which is a great match for me. My first visit, so lots of talking on my end, but I could see he was really "getting me" and my complexities. Very nice manner, interesting questions, and so refreshingly open in his views on treatment (i.e., meds v. no med, short-term v. long term). I highly recommend him.
On the day we met we talked for about 45 minutes. Dr. Friedberg is very easy to talk to and gives awesome advice on how to cope. i will definitely use Dr. Friedberg as my primary Psychiatrist, Feels like alot of weight has been lifted off of shoulders.
Dr. Friedberg was kind, right on time, listened more than just wrote prescriptions and showed genuine concern. His office space was spacious and almost homey, and I found his approach refreshing. Very knowledgeable. I am happy that I found him!
Dr Friedberg helped me with my anxiety first. Then in our work together, I became more fulfilled personally and sucessful professionally, I'm grateful.
