“I have been with Professional Hand Therapy in Merrick since the early fall of 2024. They have been treating my wrist and hand after a car accident in May of 2024 left me with my radius and ulnar bones being broken in several places. Subsequent to the accident, a very rare condition called CRPS set in. This caused freezing of the shoulder, arm, wrist, hand, and fingers. Additionally, it causes severe nerve pain, swelling, and discoloration of the limb. Alexia understands the CRPS symptoms and has been able to modify my treatment program so as to not increase the nerve pain. She, as well as the other therapists, have been wonderful regarding increasing the strength and mobility in my hand and fingers. I could not do so many things. Dry my hair, put on makeup, eat with my right hand, cut through anything harder than tofu, drive, and so many other activities were impossible for me. Those abilities are coming back little by little. Everyone in the office is wonderful, warm, and friendly. Making appointments with Lisa is so easy. I still have a pretty long road ahead of me, but I'm relieved that I am on that trip with Professional Hand Therapy in Merrick. Thank you all!”

“Exceptional Care at Professional Hand Therapy – Merrick Before coming to Professional Hand Therapy in Merrick, I was receiving treatment at Orlin & Cohen, where both my doctor and therapy were based. Initially, I made the switch because of their hand therapy office, but once I started working with Alexia Santiago at Professional Hand Therapy, I realized I needed to leave Orlin & Cohen’s doctors as well. A few weeks into therapy, I asked Alexia for a recommendation for an orthopedic doctor, and her suggestion—Dr. Morrison—was spot on. Dr. Morrison’s office has the same welcoming and calming atmosphere as Alexia’s, making the transition even easier. At Orlin & Cohen, the hand therapy office was located within a busy physical therapy facility, making it a noisy and less-than-ideal environment for focused rehabilitation. In contrast, Professional Hand Therapy in Merrick was recommended to me by a friend who had a great experience there, and I’m so grateful I took his advice.Therapy of any kind is difficult—you’re often in pain and discomfort—but from the moment I walked through the door, I knew I had made the right decision. The office exudes a peaceful, calm atmosphere with an unmistakable positive energy. My journey at this office began with Alexia Santiago, the Clinical Director, who handled my intake. It quickly became clear that Alexia, along with the rest of the staff, is the reason for the welcoming and supportive environment. She fosters a team of positive, dedicated professionals and serves as a mentor to student therapists. Her calm demeanor and the way she guides and interacts with them demonstrate her skill not only as a therapist but as a teacher. The office’s warmth starts the moment you arrive, thanks to Lisa at the front desk. She greets every patient with kindness, setting the tone for the experience ahead. When I speak to someone who, unfortunately needs hand therapy, I highly recommend Professional Hand Therapy in Merrick, every time!”
