I have been receiving counseling from Betsy for a couple of years now. She helped me through a depression after a series of losses. She provides me a safe place to grief with no time limits or criticism, enables self reflection and give guidance in coping with my emotional responses to situations. She has been very helpful.

I became a therapist after a successful 12 year career in international publishing. My work took me all over the world, exposing me to different cultures. Over the course of my travels I came to realize that I found it more fulfilling to get to know my clients as people than to work with them as customers. At the same time I became fascinated by the process of psychotherapy, and as a patient I began not only to understand myself better, but also to see myself change and grow. When the opportunity to leave publishing presented itself, it didn’t take long for me to enter a graduate program in Social Work, after which I received post-graduate certificates in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. Somewhere along the way, I also discovered modern dance, and was almost immediately captivated by the experience of expressing myself in a nonverbal form. My education as a dancer and my deepening involvement in the arts opened up new ways of thinking about communication and process. What a wonderful complement to my role as a “talk therapist”! I cannot imagine being the therapist I am without having had these influences -- publishing took me out into (and around) the world; psychoanalysis opened me to my inner world; and dance forever changed my relationship to the world!
As a psychotherapist in practice for over 25 years, my aim is to create a safe and welcoming environment where patients can learn about themselves, grow, and, of course, change.

I was new to therapy and Betsy immediately put me at ease. She conveyed a sincerity and warmth from our first meeting. She is a good listener who offers thoughtful insights that help me look at myself from a new perspective. Since I began therapy with her I feel calmer and better able to cope.

Betsy has always made me feel as if I could tell her anything. She listens carefully and is a warm and understanding person. I like that she has a sense of humor but also that she takes me seriously. I feel that's she helping me cope with the loss of my mother.

I can recommend Ms. Hallerman without reservations I found her to be very helpful in addressing some longstanding concerns. She was warm, thoughtful, intelligent and a good listener it was easy to express my distress, and to seek creative solutions and insights into my problems. Her practice is non-judgemental, caring and she provides a very safe environment.
