As a therapist and as a person, Adam has a genuine appreciation of others that allows him to connect with just about anyone. He helps his clients navigate their unique struggles, grow through their challenges, and discover their greatness. Clients and clinicians describe him as real (read: not “therapist’ish”), calming, validating, non-judgmental, compassionate, intuitive, and able to identify and bring out people’s strengths. Clients who have been in therapy for years prior to meeting Adam have said about him that it’s the first time they’ve felt seen and heard. Adam works with couples, adults, adolescents, and groups—clients suffering from acute and complex trauma, abuse and neglect, anxiety, depression, and many other issues, all with a focus on fostering the capacity for loving relationships—with self and others. Adam has a special interest in fitness and nutrition’s role in thriving emotionally and spiritually. Adam earned his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bellevue University. He has a creative background (music, film, improv) and brings gentle humor into his sessions to help clients see the light within the darkness and energize them to move forward. Adam has decades’ experience in a variety of settings, including the IOP/PHP at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and workshops and retreats through Yale University focusing on developing healthy relationship skills and character refinement. While Adam brings in techniques from various modalities (DBT, EFT, person-centered, somatic, and psychodynamic psychotherapy), he believes the totality of the individual is greater than the sum of their parts, and through their therapeutic relationship he helps each client thrive and then manifest that in the areas of their life that matter most.
