Getting to know Dr. Cristal Lopez
Welcome!
I’m Dr. Cristal Lopez, a licensed psychologist who believes that while pain is part of being human, suffering doesn’t have to be. You don’t have to stay stuck in the “suck.” Therapy can help you break free from patterns that hold you back and move toward a life that feels meaningful, fulfilling, and aligned with who you truly are.
Even during life’s most challenging moments, we all carry inherent strengths. My role is to help you reconnect with those strengths, clarify what matters most to you, and create real, lasting change. I take a values-based, collaborative approach, meeting you exactly where you are with compassion, curiosity, and support—never judgment.
I am trained in EMDR and clinical hypnosis, evidence-based approaches that can be especially helpful for processing trauma, coping with chronic illness/pain, and/or other mental health conditions. Together, we’ll work in a way that feels safe, intentional, and tailored to your goals.
For teens and families, I recognize that emotional well-being is shaped by relationships and systems. I partner with parents to strengthen connection, improve communication, and create supportive environments where teens can thrive.
I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University and completed a Fellowship in at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. I’m a published author with advanced training in psychological and neuropsychological assessment, including evaluations for ADHD, learning differences, and giftedness.
As a pediatric psychologist, I also specialize in working with medical conditions such as chronic and acute pain, IBD/IBS, abdominal pain, emetophobia, anxiety, depression, Crohn's, burnout, chronic health conditions, migraines, etc.
