Getting to know Dr. Curtis Campaigne
Therapy is a rare opportunity to be profoundly understood by another person. The more we feel understood, the more we are able to untangle the emotional and interpersonal knots that lead us into treatment in the first place. While diagnostic categories are often useful guideposts, I believe each person needs to be understood within the context of their life history and the emotional convictions that shape their experience.
I earned my PsyD in Psychology from George Washington University and hold a Bachelor's degree from Williams College. I have treated a wide range of individuals in a hospital setting (Mount Sinai Medical Center), a community mental health center (Metropolitan Center for Mental Health), a parent-child group (The Bernard L. Pacella, MD Parent Child Center), and in private practice.
I started practicing Buddhist meditation in 1994 and have a special interest in its relationship to psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. In addition, I have both personal and professional experience working with Lyme disease and other chronic illnesses. I'm also currently enrolled in the first ever two-year certificate program in neuropsychoanalysis, an emerging field that combines psychoanalytic technique with recent findings in affective neuroscience.
Most of my sessions are currently offered as video visits but I can often see patients in my office on 96th Street and Central Park West as well.

Really not great. More concerned about billing my insurance than my mental health.

I decided to see Dr. Campaigne in seeking treatment for anxiety/panic. I'm certain that I found the right person for myself. After my first appointment, I've been given insight and helpful information that I never would have never came to on my own. Not only is Dr. Campaigne easy to discuss things with, but he provides thought provoking interjections and helps to develop a positive thought process.

Very happy with my first session with Dr. Campaigne. He was very nice and he asked a number of questions that made me look at things in a new light.

I don't have a PHD but I'm a better therapist than he is since I controlled the session, I asked more questions than he does when he should be helping m , I am more creative that he is. As a matter of fact, I should ask for my refund, I helped him more than he helped me. Do you ever noticed he just sit back and just nod in approval, and just twiddle his thumbs with crickets in the background and you just go-ask me more...ask me more....talk to me????

Dr. Campaigne is very patient and kind. I have only had three visits but so far I'm very pleased. He seems to want to really get to know you and your issues. While some folks may be looking for a quick fix or suggestions to improve immediately, I would rather have him know me better and then better address my issues.

It was nostaglic...
Every therapist is different...always be careful and remember what is it you are looking for and hoping to get out of it. Two things I've learned: 1. Sometimes boundaries can get us far as breaking through the barriers that we have builded over the years with bricks consisting of pain and hurt to the point where therapist and patient develop trusting relationship 2. sometimes it get us nowhere where there's no trust . Also, Always ask this...is it really them that you want or need to help you or is it really you that can only can help you but you are just there becuase you have no one?

It's very early to tell but I just wish he would just be nosy and aggressive with the questions so he can help me or anyone with their underlying issues. He's good, honestly he is, but just too " let me get to know you first and let you talk, then I'll ask questions" I'm more of -just ask me any random questions and I'll tell you. when I tell you, you'll help me right there and then to help me realize the bigger issues I'm or we facing that we unconsciously are aware of.

Satisfactorily attentive at first, and progresses to dismissive and then to more of (him) self focused than client focused. Eventually gives unhelpful emotional responses over logical professional ones.

Curtis is a great listener and helped me unearth some very old problems and how they have affected my life today. Having someone who listens so well can help tremendously for a person to just feel HEARD. It was also really nice how he would tell me "don't be sorry" every time I apologized for crying. It was weird, at first, to be with someone who was SO non-judgmental and was just so comfortable, sitting there, with you. It took me some time to actually adapt and I realized how much of myself I HIDE from people and it really helped me to work through some of that by honestly confronting some of the major issues I was struggling with and determined to genuinely overcome. It was a pleasure to see him and would have continued to do so had I not moved. Thanks for everything, Curtis, it's all meant a great deal to me.

I've been seeing Dr. Campaigne since couple months ago and it is great to finally have someone whom I can trust and feel comfortable enough to open up my wound. He is sharp, rational yet sympathetic. Most importantly, he is very patient and it is the reason why I could trust him over time.

I've seen Dr. Campaigne a number of times now and I'm extremely happy with the progress we've made. I had some specific issues I wanted to address in terms of some relationships I was dealing with at home and at work and I credit Dr. Campaigne with helping me to take some real steps forward on both fronts. He has a knack for putting seemingly unrelated thoughts and experiences into perspective.

I understand it takes time for therapy to start working but in the past I left every visit including my first with some progression. The only thing I left there knowing was his summer vacation schedule. He was a polite man but offered no insight; I thought I would give him a try but I appointment was never confirmed or nor was I reminded; that's what I get for booking directly through him. I did receive a phone call 45 minutes after I was supposed to have a second session. ZocDoc is great for all doctors except mental health professionals.

My visit with Dr. Campaigne was great. I had never had any therapy before and he was very caring and considerate. He asked a lot of questions and got me to talk about things that I normally don't talk about. Will continue to see him. Definitely recommended.

I saw Dr. C for couples therapy. I wasn't expecting much in the first session besides just going through history. Instead, I was impressed that we were able to make some headway in just 45min. I found the session helpful.

Had an excellent first visit with Dr. Campaigne. He's very genuine and easy-going. I think he really understands
where I'm coming from. The overall experience was great — Dr. Campaigne was punctual, and the environment was
quiet, comfortable and relaxing.
