Dr. Dmitry Shestakovsky, DPT, attained his B.S. in Psychology from Stony Brook University in 1997. He then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in 1999. In 2007, he graduated with honors from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Dr. Shestakovsky is one of the only NYC practitioners who uses Fascial Counterstrain (FCS), an innovative, pain-free manipulation technique that offers lasting relief for a variety of medical conditions and pain syndromes. I recently had a consultation with Dr. Dmitry, and I am very pleased with the experience. He quickly assessed my issue and provided a solution with equal efficiency. I had been dealing with neck pain before the appointment, but I walked out pain-free. Based on this consultation, I recommend his services, and should I experience a similar issue in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Dr. Dmitry listened patiently to the issues that I was having with my arm. After my appointments, my pain and tension would immediately be less. His Brooklyn office is also a lot less busy than his Midtown location, so the wait time is minimal. I highly recommend!

Dr. wasn't able to look at my X-Rays - didn't even have a computer in the patient treatment area. There was a dead roach laying on the floor.

Dr. Dmitry Shestakovsky is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and understanding. I walked in with a cam boot and in 4 short sessions - I was able to bear most of my weight on my ankle with an ankle brace. Prior to the first visit, I was unable to walk for a month and my ankle was too stiff to even move. Dr. Dmitry explained the recovery process while providing his recommendations. Having been through the same process before (and worse I may add), Dr. Dmitry understands your frustrations and the difficult journey in being able to walk properly again. I would recommend him to anyone recovering from a sports injury, accident, or surgery etc. My only regret is not coming to see him sooner during week 2 after my injury!

Dmitry is an awesome doctor. Always has a plan to help fix whatever is hurting and always does it with a smile. I initially went in to get help with tendinitis in my elbows, and after some time he was able to fix it. Then I went in for shin splints, and he helped with those too. I had a back issue that had started bothering me after running, and he managed to know exactly what to do for that as well. Wait time is very minimal. And while his choices in football teams is questionable, he is a great doctor to talk sports with.
If you're body doesn't seem to want to cooperate and heal on its own, go see Doctor Dmitry, and you will not be disappointed.

He's really, really great. Blows any other PT practitioner clean out of the water! Explains fully what's wrong in your body and what he's doing to fix it, which I really appreciate. He takes his time and makes you feel really comfortable. Also the office is really lovely! It's quiet and a very relaxing atmosphere. Will be going back for treatment for as long as I live in NYC...

Very pleasant and talented therapist, fixed my shoulder in 2 visits without any pain and suffering on my part, fixed my back in one visit. Completely changed my attitude toward physical therapy! Highly recommend!

Dmitry is the best!! I had serious neck surgery where a vertebrae was removed, a metal plate inserted, and fused together. My recovery was long and painful. After several months I was able to go for physical therapy and that's when I met Dmitry. At this point, my range of motion was very little and Dmitry assured me he would get my neck back to where it was before surgery, and he did!! After several visits my neck was moving and I had significantally less pain. His gentle approach and manipulation technique work like no other. I highly recommended him to several friends and family members who he had also helped tremendously. Dmitry is not just an ordinary physical therapist, but a doctor of physical therapy which makes all the difference in the world!
