About Dr. Heather Graham

EXCEL Rutherford Clinic Director, Heather Graham, fell in love with New England while attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, where she earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, followed by a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Born and raised in New Jersey, Heather grew up actively involved in competitive figure skating, gymnastics, and dance. In her freshman year of high school, while diligently working through recovery from an ankle surgery, her interest in field of physical therapy was piqued. As a PT student, Heather gained unique clinical experience with the United States Coast Guard and a division of Somerset Medical Center, now known as RWJ Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Center. During which time, she began utilizing Selective Functional Movement Assessment, (which she is now certified in), as well as the Functional Movement Screen. It was also during this time she first worked with patients suffering from sports concussions – an area she’s actively expanding her expertise in. Expanding her knowledge even further, Heather earned a certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute. As a marathon runner, she has developed an in-depth understanding and passion for treating running related injuries. Heather’s athletic background attracts her to sports related injuries, but is interested in treating a full spectrum of injuries. In her leisure time, Heather enjoys cooking. She remains active through yoga, running, hiking, and especially enjoys when her dog, Bailey and new puppy, Jax tag along. Heather an avid traveler, who enjoys learning new things and is currently working her way towards fluency in Spanish. As a sports fan, her love of football began in college and still remains with The New England Patriots; however, she never lost her love of the New York Yankees or the New York Rangers.
