“Very good listener. Asks questions that make you want to open up. He's highly professional and at the same time comes off as friend who cares. He clearly knows his stuff, and his movies. I find myself laughing at his quotes. I don't know if he'll be the right fit for you because everyone comes in with different problems/ perspectives/ etc but he's the right fit for me cause he made me want to open up. And if you're a type of person who tends bottle stuff in, he might be a good fit for you as well. ”

Getting to know Dr. Jamey Levy

Dr. Jamey Levy is a board-certified psychiatrist who maintains a private practice in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from New York University and completed his residency at the New York University Elaine A. and Kenneth G. Langone Medical Center. Dr. Levy is affiliated with NYU Langone Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital. He has received numerous awards and fellowships, which have afforded him the opportunity to study the biological underpinnings of mental illness. While Dr. Levy has an extensive background in psychopharmacology and the neuroscience of mental illness, he strongly believes in the value of psychotherapy and the power of change through increased self-understanding. This diverse background has fostered a philosophy of approaching the patient as a whole person, with less focus on categorizing and labeling, as this tends to undercut the incredible complexity of the human mind and can hinder the physician's ability to fully understand and hear why a person is suffering. Dr. Levy listens attentively and empathically, fosters a safe and secure shared space to explore one's pain and suffering, and adapts his consultations and treatment to the unique individual seeking help. Before the initial session, Dr. Levy would like to briefly touch base for 5?10 minutes to discuss why you are seeking treatment and how he can help.

This was my first experience going to a psychiatrist and he made me feel very comfortable. He really listens and digs deeply into what you say (in a good way). I have continued to see him for sessions and I really feel that I am benefiting from seeing him. He's not just stuck on giving patients meds, he offers adjunct therapies. I definitely would recommend him to others.
