Hi, I’m Jason Diviney, a Licensed Associate Counselor passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful growth. I take an empathetic, collaborative approach to therapy focused on understanding where you are, where you want to be, and helping you take the steps in between.
Since I began practicing in 2022, I’ve worked extensively with individuals facing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and substance use challenges. Trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, I specialize in both brief solution-focused therapy for life transitions and acute concerns, as well as longer-term psychotherapy aimed at understanding the patterns behind thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that shape your daily life.
My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where we can work together to meet your unique needs and build lifelong tools for resilience, self-awareness, and well-being.
Education & Training
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Buffalo, where I also participated in research, working at the Alcohol Research Lab for two years. I later completed my Master’s degree in Psychiatric Rehabilitation with a Clinical Mental Health Counseling track at Rutgers University. During my time at Rutgers, I contributed to several academic publications through research and collaboration with faculty.
Outside the Office
When I’m not working, I enjoy following soccer, with Tottenham Hotspur being my favorite team, going to the gym, hiking, spending time with family, friends, and my dog.

While he was very nice, I didn’t come in with a specific problem. Just wanted to talk and have advice. He seemed very unsure of what to ask me and laughed at one of my sneers when I was confused by his question. Which made me uncomfortable. He also scheduled two more appointments with me only for me to then two days later to receive a text saying I was matched with a different therapist. No explanation or communication from Jason first. Kind of tough when you seek out someone to talk to for help and even they turn you away without even a conversation. Makes me not want to continue with this process in the future when all I wanted was someone to listen.
