What should a new client know about working with you?

As a licensed child and adolescent clinical psychologist, I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and their families navigate challenges with clarity, compassion, and evidence-based strategies to improve their overall well-being and daily functioning. I am committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Building a trusting and secure relationship is central to my approach, ensuring that families feel comfortable addressing their concerns and working toward meaningful progress. I bring a strong foundation of education and training to my work, having completed my undergraduate, master’s, and PhD degrees at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. My clinical experience includes a pediatric psychology internship at the Child Psychiatry Department of the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine/Kennedy Krieger Institute, where I specialized in psychological assessment and therapy. I also draw on my research background, which has focused on autism and academic motivation, to enhance my evaluations and therapy. This knowledge allows me to provide thorough assessments, insightful recommendations, and effective support tailored to each client’s unique needs. In addition to my clinical expertise, I bring extensive experience as an educator, having worked in mainstream schools, specialized schools for children with disabilities, and virtual learning environments. This perspective helps me collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals to create practical, actionable plans that support each child’s development and success. Above all, I strive to provide a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space where families feel supported in their journey toward positive change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically begin with a diagnostic intake interview, often conducted via telehealth. This session allows me to learn more about the client, their unique circumstances, and how I can best provide support. These interviews are essential for shaping the course of both psychological assessment and therapy. Additionally, I review any previous assessments and relevant records to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client’s background, which helps me provide more effective support for them and their family. Assessment Process My assessment process combines interviews, standardized tests, and questionnaires to gather insights into cognitive, emotional, developmental and behavioral functioning. This is done in a safe, supportive and professional setting designed to make clients feel comfortable. The length of an assessment depends on its complexity and can range from a few hours to multiple sessions. Once the comprehensive report is finalized, I will schedule a feedback session with the parents and/or client to present and discuss the findings. During this meeting, I will offer recommendations for parents and other relevant parties, such as schools, to effectively implement the proposed plan. Therapy Process In therapy, I prioritize creating a safe and confidential environment where clients feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings. I use evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other modalities, tailored to meet each client’s specific needs. Therapy sessions may include techniques such as mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, and other strategies, always emphasizing the client’s sense of safety and well-being. The duration of therapy varies; some clients experience progress within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Together with the client and their family, I determine an appropriate plan to help them achieve their goals.
