Getting to know Dr. Jason Shimiaie
Dr. Jason Shimiaie is a highly regarded psychotherapist and psychiatrist. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed residencies in both Psychiatry and Internal Medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital. He also pursued a fellowship in Intensive Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the William Alanson White Institute. Dr. Shimiaie sees patients for a variety of concerns at his private clinic in New York, New York, and is affiliated with Mount Sinai Hospital.
Currently, Dr. Shimiaie serves as the chief psychiatrist at Shimiaie Associates, where he trains and supervises a team of mental health providers. While he is not accepting new patients at this time, individuals who book through his clinic will have the opportunity to work with one of his highly regarded supervisees.
Dr. Laura Van Dyck, chief resident in Psychiatry at The Mount Sinai Hospital, has a special interest in working with older adults. Her approach emphasizes the integration of geriatric medical health into treatment planning.
Dr. Enzo Fantin-Yusta, a senior resident at Mount Sinai, brings a creative perspective to treatment. He incorporates Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, psychedelic psychotherapy models, and trauma-informed care. As a culturally sensitive provider of Chilean origin, he also offers services in Spanish.
Dr. Raia Blum, also a senior resident at Mount Sinai, focuses on women’s and peripartum mental health. She treats a range of conditions, including PMDD, pregnancy-related anxiety and mood disorders, postpartum depression, OCD, and psychosis. Dr. Blum is currently available for both psychotherapy and medication management.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
In the initial consultation we review treatment goals and take a general history. After the consultation process is complete we collaboratively develop a treatment plan that may include psychotherapy, medications or both.

Dr. Shimiaie was extremely helpful and gave me professional guidance during a very difficult phase I was going through. He went out of his way to provide me the best medical care possible in order to get me stabilized and return back to work on a very timely basis. He provided support, feedback, and gave me knowledge on what I was going through. I instantly felt better after my visit with Dr. Shimiaie, as he gave me hope and motivation that what I am going through is treatable and will be okay in the near future.
