I can’t recommend Jesse enough. He is one of the best listeners I’ve ever met and is genuinely present, thoughtful, and caring. He creates a space that feels safe and real, which made it easier for me to open up and actually make progress. What I appreciated most is how grounded and practical our sessions felt. Jesse helped me slow down and make sense of things without ever feeling judged or pushed. Every time I left a session, I felt a little more clear and capable than when I started the session. If you are looking for a new therapist, especially if you identify as LGBTQ, please do not hesitate to seek care from Jesse!
Jesse is truly one of a kind. I have been working with him for a couple of years, and the impact our work together has had on my life is priceless. Like any therapist/patient relationship, it took a few weeks to find trust and the right rhythm, but Jesse's safe space allowed me to dive deep and do the work. His nonjudgmental and non-opinionated approach made it so easy to find the solutions within me, unlike some other therapists in my past who've given me their advice and own opinions instead of helping me navigate my own solution. We worked through some poly relationship dynamics, childhood trauma, and learning how to navigate the balance of taking care of myself before giving capacity to others. I highly recommend working with him.

More about Jesse Berkowitz, LMSW

In my eyes, one of the most powerful aspects of therapy is the relationship that forms between the therapist and the client. The process of establishing a safe and supportive partnership makes room for us to collaborate on rewarding emotional work. My goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and supported along your journey of self-discovery, and to help you find resilience, authenticity, healing, and self-love. My approach begins with warmth and an open mind. I am here to help guide you toward the goals that you set for yourself, drawing on experiential, relational, narrative, cognitive behavioral, and psychodynamic approaches to address issues like anxiety, depression, relationship and family problems, identity issues, or the struggle to find a sense of purpose. I gladly work with all walks of life and am particularly passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. From coming out to dating, healing sexuality- and gender-based trauma, and exploring polyamory and ethical non-monogamy-I am here to support you. Antiracism, inclusivity, and LGBTQIA+ competency are central to my work. Jesse, MSW, holds a Master of Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York; a Master of Arts in Migration Studies from Tel Aviv University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The College of Wooster.

Jesse has made an incredibly positive impact on my life. Since beginning our sessions, I've become a stronger and overall more healthy and happy person. Through working with him, I've healed wounds from childhood trauma, built confidence, and have seen a massive decrease in anxiety and depression. Jesse is by far the best therapist I've ever worked with, and I can't recommend him enough!
I have only been working with Jesse for a short while but I have enjoyed all of our sessions so far. He is attentive, respectful, and really takes the time to consider and be intentional when responding or giving any insights. The sessions always feel safe and like they have a nice flow to them, + there is always a moment to reflect. In addition, he is always on time, which I truly appreciate.
Jesse is professional, empathetic, and makes me feel seen. He asks great questions to start insightful conversations and helps me look at the bigger picture. I highly recommend this practice and Jesse!
It's so clear from the get-go that Jesse is a remarkably conscientious practitioner. He is very thorough and kind and I appreciate the care he obviously takes to understand my needs and tailor our sessions to best meet them.
