Hi there, I'm Jessica!
Hello! I am Jessica King, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am a believer that your attachment style developed in childhood firmly shapes the way you move in the world as an adult. I like to explore the experiences my clients have as children to gain a perspective on how they developed into their current adult version of themselves.
My approach
I believe that your childhood experiences greatly shape who you become as an adult as well as how you learn to move throughout your world. I am drawn to Psychodynamic Theory, Attachment Theory, and Family Systems Theory.
My focus
I have worked in a variety of settings including Full-Service Partnerships (FSP), jail, and community clinics. I enjoy working with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, family/relationship issues, and adjusting to new situations. I enjoy helping people find their voice and become familiar with it.
My communication style
I aim to create an open and inviting environment. My goal for anyone working with me is to feel empowered to be their true authentic self in the session without concerns of judgment. My goal is to have each person I work with feel as though they have allowed me to join them on their journey of self-discovery while creating a different version of themselves. It is my ultimate goal to provide a safe space for anyone I work with in hopes they feel empowered enough to be as transparent as they choose with me.
My journey to therapy
In my circles of support growing up, I found myself playing the role of always providing a safe space for all my friends and being the friend "with the shoulder you can lean on". I have always had the gift to see situations from different perspectives and that allowed me to remain neutral and unbiased in discussions. The experiences of being placed in those roles growing up allowed me to think of how to help on a larger scale.
