There are a few things that make Jessica an outstanding and unique physical therapist. She has a deep well of knowledgeabout the human body that is beyond most physical therapists. When she assisted in the recovery my knee surgery she was able to judge by my gate, my stance and by the wear on my shoes what specific muscles in my leg(s) needed strengthening. This was beyond the typically doctors recommendation to do “strengthening exercises” and helped me improve my overall stance to heal and to prevent further injury. This type of attention to the detail of my (the patient’s) specific needs is another of Jessica’s unique skills. Taking the time to understand the effects of my size, shape, work habits, lifestyle, etc… so the treatment is more than just recovery. The treatment becomes an effective means to assist in how to keep my body working correctly long into the future. The treatment helped me understand my body’s needs and allowed me to recognize issues and concerns before they become something more severe. Finally, while physical therapy can be at times painful Jessica was both responsive and responsible in pushing me, and assisting me, in enduring what was necessary for my treatment. She did this with compassion, humor, and with a kind heart.

About Jessica Silva

Dr. Silva comes to High Performance PT with 12 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and then went on to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) with an Orthopedic concentration from Columbia University. Dr. Silva is passionate about helping her patients and frequently pursues continuing medical education to increase her knowledge and skills, as she views learning a lifelong process. She attends courses and conferences through various organizations including the HSS and NYU hospital networks, and is trained in many specialized manual techniques. In 2017, after extensive coursework, Dr. Silva became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA), joining less than 350 practitioners worldwide who hold this designation. Her treatment philosophy is heavily influenced by Functional Manual Therapy (FMT), utilizing the MNM approach to identify and treat dysfunctions in Mechanical capacity, Neuromuscular function, and Motor control in order to optimize her patients’ function and maximize their movement potential. Dr. Silva believes in a whole body approach, looking for the drivers of a patient’s symptoms both locally and in adjacent joints or even other parts of the body, and understands the importance of reintegrating all of these parts back into a whole to fully restore the body to it’s most efficient state as a movement system.

Jessica is great! She is extremely knowledgable about the human body and its limits. Her sole mission is to get you better. She will appropriately push you past your comfort zone, but stay within your body's limits according to your injury. She has all the attributes you want for a physical therapist; she's nice, knowledgable, and tough.

My visit was terrific! Jessica is a great PT and does a great job explaining what she's doing and why she's doing it. Everyone at Recovery PT is polite, professional and a pleasure to be around.

Jessica has helped me tremendously! I've been to a few other PT's and no one has the knowledge that she does. She pushes you but knows your limits. I saw her before I had my hip surgery and she was theone who referred me to my surgeon. And I specifically came back to her after because I felt most comfortable and like I am in capable hands with her. If you have a hip problem, Jessica is the one to see!
